FAQ

  • What's the minimum notice needed to book a wedding?

3 months is the legal requirement.

  • What are the minimum/maximum numbers?

220 wedding meal guests is our limit, although it may be possible to invite extra guests later on in the evening. The minimum number generally is 100 guests.

  • Will it be mean more work for us than a usual hotel wedding?

    Absolutely not!

We will give you the details of our catering team to help devise your special menu.

You will also need to book a celebrant (if the wedding is on-site) or church/priest. We will work closely with the celebrant on the day to ensure the smooth running of the ceremony, including microphones, PAs for musicians (if feasible), candle holders / storm vases (if outdoors), reserved name tags for seats.

You’ll also have to book your own late evening entertainment – band/DJ/ceili band etc. We will make suggestions if needed.

We will also provide recommendations for photographers, videographers, magicians, singing chef, trad group for after the meal, photo booth.

We will provide a ‘hang your heels’ pallet, you just need to provide flip-flops.

Also, we will provide a sweet cart free of charge, together with utensils and bags. Just supply the sweets.

We provide all tables, chairs, crockery, table plans and table decor (including candles). We will put you in touch with our excellent local florist to assist you with floral table arrangements, or to advise and provide bouquets, buttonholes etc.

  • Do you hold 'open days'?

No. We believe in giving full and personal attention to you on your visit here. Occasionally we hold a ‘tasting day’ for couples who have already booked. They will be given select samples of canapés, starters, main courses and desserts, and will have an opportunity to taste some samples of wine from our wine menu…

  • Is the venue suitable for disabled/elderly guests?

Definitely. Holly Barn and Willow Barn have no steps whatsoever. The only staircase in the venue is in the bridal party accommodation in Ashtree Barn. This barn does however have an excellent stairlift in operation (key available on request). The en-suite bathroom is also fully accessible and we have proudly hosted weddings in the past where six or seven wheelchair users have been in attendance.

  • Will rain adversely affect our wedding day?

Many of our ceremonies do take place outdoors (in dry, mild weather) but Holly Barn is a wonderful alternative, and some couples do indeed choose Holly Barn from the word go! We have a large paved courtyard between Holly and Ashtree Barns covered by a permanent roof which provides shelter from rain and excessive sunshine! This is used for drinks receptions and occasionally for very large wedding ceremonies…  Many of our best weddings have taken place on wet days, which by their very nature keep wedding guests closer together in one place, which in turn adds to the atmosphere!
